Short Music: Inmotep. The musical.
10 years of the most experimental format of the festival, playing with music, word and image.
We celebrate the anniversary with an unusual format, a feature film heir to another of our dean sections, Pantalla Cero. We are talking about Inmotep, the latest work of the very personal Julian Génisson (Canódromo Abandonado). A radically independent film, just over an hour long, built on flashes and stock images. A dialogue-free mystery that combines experimentation, film noir and comedy. A dazzling work that jumps into the void with the soundtrack of Hyperpótamus as its only net. Alter ego of Jorge Ramírez-Escudero, a composer from Madrid who makes music using only his voice, a few microphones and a loop pedal. After years traveling around the world with his voice and playing in the most extraordinary and remote places in 2016 he decided to say goodbye to the stage until his return this year as the composer of the film in a multi-instrumental record that breaks with what was expected from his previous project.
Jorge and Julián had a dream. To be able to screen the film with live music. But as soon as they started trying to balance agendas, paternities and numbers, they saw their particular Fitzcarraldo before them and it was shelved as just another project in their Discarded Film Office.
On the occasion of Short Music's anniversary we have invited them to at least try and, if it doesn't work out, at least let them come and don't tell them about it. So, whatever happens, welcome to Inmotep. The Musical.
