ALCINE's search for a successor to
'Lampa cu caciula' is now underway. This Rumanian short film directed by
Radu Jude won the top award in the first
European Competition at the Film Festival in Alcalá de Henares a few months ago. This official section is now getting ready to be held for the second time
from the 7th to the 15th of November 2008. The first step taken by the organization was the publication of the bases for participation in the upcoming competition. The
deadline for inscription in the European Competition is the
30th of June. Those selected can compete for
three ALCINE prizes in this section worth 6,000, 4,000 and 2,000 euros respectively, and there is also an audience award.
Those interested must meet a series of conditions and general norms to formalize the inscription process, which can be consulted on the
Festival's official website,
www.alcine.org.
The
European Competition is open to short films produced mainly in member countries of the European Union, Iceland, Norway and Switzerland. Films can enter with exhibition copies in
16 or 35 mm formats (silent or with optical sound) or
Betacam SP PAL video, on the condition they were
made after the 1st of January 2007.
Filmmakers can present as many short films as they want, provided they are no more than thirty minutes long and are
subtitled in English or Spanish if the dialogues of the piece are in any other language. A selection committee will be responsible for choosing films for participation in the
European Competition from those received.
To formalize the inscription an
'online' form must be filled in on the ALCINE website
www.alcine.org. This material must be included with the
vídeo (VHS -PAL or NTSC - or DVD Zone 2) subtitled in English or Spanish, the dialogue list in one of these languages, five digital photos of the film and one of the director, a photocopy of the passport/identity card of the director and producer, and a informative dossier on the short film.
All this information must be sent to ALCINE's offices. The deadline for inscription and dispatch of the material requested is the 30th of June 2008. For further information is it essential to enter
www.alcine.org.
