Another year, another June, and the registration period for the National Short Film Competition is open again. The longest running section at ALCINE, in its 42nd year in 2012, is open for entries until the 1st of September. If you have a short film made after the 1st of January 2011 and produced in Spain (or if you are a Spanish filmmaker and have made a short film outside Spain), you can make the registration and upload your short film for competition completely online.
There are a variety of awards in the competition. The first prize is worth 8,000 €, the second prize 4,000 € and the third prize 2,500 €. The best short film from the Madrid Region will also be awarded a prize worth 2,500 €. The CES Film School is awarding a prize of 3,000 euros for the best sound. Canal + is awarding a prize for best short film, and the Department of Young People is awarding a trophy for the best short film in the opinion on the audience.
As far as the formats allowed are concerned, films can be presented with exhibition copies in 35 mm (silent or with optical sound included), Blu-ray or HD file format.
