The
Alcalá de Henares/ Madrid Region Film Festival has reserved a space for the youngest amongst us. They have their very own parallel section: ‘
Shorts for Shorties’. The intention of
ALCINE40 is to provide a collage of images and illusions bringing the seventh art closer to an audience of children. Films from France, Switzerland, Germany, Mexico, the United States, the United Kingdom and Spain will be shown on the big screen in the Cisneros Cinema during the festival week.
The first block of short films has been designed especially for the house’s youngest inhabitants. ‘
L’inventeur’, ‘
Nid Scho Widr!’, ‘
L’ombre fidèle’, ‘
Signalis’, ‘
A nena que tinha unha soa orella’, ‘
Bob’, ‘
Monstre Sacré’, ‘
El armadillo fronterizo’ and ‘
Cloudy Day’ will be screened on Friday the 12
th of November at 17:30.
The second half of the ‘Shorts for Shorties’ programme is aimed at an audience somewhere between childhood and adolescence. ALCINE audiences made up of “young adults” will have the chance to watch the following short films: ‘
Peng!’, ‘
A bike ride’, ‘
The lady and the reaper’, ‘
I do air’, ‘
Hras’, ‘
Le petit dragon’, ‘
Babioles’ and ‘
Pigeon: impossible’. This block will be screened once only, on Saturday the 13th at 12:00.
In both cases, the screenings will be held in the
Multicines Cinema (Plaza de los Santos Niños) and tickets for each session will cost just
one euro each.
Workshops for Kids
One of the main novelties this year is the inclusion of workshops for kids in the programming of ALCINE. The idea behind ‘
Cinema and Sweets!’ is the creation of stories around the thematic area of
immigration. Participants will make
short animated films using candy. The learners will be divided into three groups of five kids, who will work on an animation set. When completed, the end results will be edited and posted on Internet. An interesting fusion of candy and cinema for the youngest amongst us.
Two workshops will be held: On
Saturday the 6th (kids between the ages of 11 and 14) and
Saturday the 13th of November (kids between the ages of 8 and 10). In both cases, they will be held at 11:00 in the
Former Hospital of Santa María la Rica. Those interested
must register first by phone 91 887 05 84. There is a maximum of
15 places on each of the sessions.
