This year ushers in
the big four-oh, a long
trip to Poland, and the
end of a decade; the ideal moment to
take a look in the rear-view mirror and check out the best from the last ten years of film addiction. And there are a handful of novelties set alongside the mainstays of
ALCINE40; those sections repeated year in year out, which always come up trumps.
Along with
Open Screen for New Directors, the
National and European Competitions comprise the three
competitive sections at the
Alcalá de Henares / Madrid Region Film Festival. The latter two categories get underway as soon as the festival is opened. The
National Competition brings together a total of
39 Spanish-produced short films from the 6th to the 8th of November. The work is divided into
six blocks screened in the
Teatro Salón Cervantes, with sessions scheduled for
17:30, 19:45 and 22:00.
Among those selected for the
National Competition there are directors who are well known in Alcalá such as
Jaume Balagueró, the director of ‘REC’, who is presenting
